Welcoming all manner of life into the garden
Kimberly Hennelly is sharing picture today of her garden and the various nonhuman visitor she welcome into the blank space .
I wanted to share some photos of the frogs and pollinators from my backyard . I am in Zone 6 in Vernon , New Jersey . I really plant specifically for pollinator . Bee balm(Monardasp . ) , butterfly weed(Asclepiastuberosa , Zones 3–9 ) , fennel , buddleia , echinacea , hummingbird mint(Agastachesp . ) , black and blue salvia(Salviaguaranitica‘Black and Blue ’ , Zones 7–10 or as yearly ) , etc . I grow mickle and lots of flower . I also have habitats for crowned head larvae and think of them .
An adorable toad ( I remember an American toad , Anaxyrusamericanus ) hang out on a group of rose blossoms . Seeing amphibians like frogs and frog in your garden is always a good sign . Not only do they have a voracious appetite for pests like slugs , but amphibians are also very sensitive to pollutant and many insecticides because they well absorb many chemical through their skin . So determine amphibians in the garden is a good sign you ’ve made a safe space for many animals to flourish .

Another happy piddling salientian , this fourth dimension hanging out on some daisies . When toads first switch from pollywog to their adult pattern , the young toads , sometimes call toadlets , often allow for the pee in a enceinte mathematical group , so you may see lots of tiny toads in the garden all at once .
A distaff ruby - throated hummingbird . Plants with long , tubular , red flowers are often adapt to be pollinated by hummingbirds . But hummingbirds do n’t just feed on nectar ; they also consume insects and spiders as a large part of their dieting and an important source of protein , particularly for female preparing to lay ballock . So to keep your hummingbirds happy , provide lots of nectar , but also keep off using insecticides that will kill off the worm they , and many other fowl , depend on .
The iconic Danaus plexippus butterfly

pitch-dark morning coat butterfly
A grey-haired tree toad . These tiny frogs are common over a across-the-board swath of eastern North America . void insecticidal sprays to make certain they have plenty of food in your garden .
