The specific name " prinslooi(PRINS - loo - ee ) " honors Gerry J. Prinsloo , a South African grower of Aloes who discovered this metal money .

Aloe prinslooiis autochthonal to the Tugela River Valley between Ladysmith and Muden in KwaZulu - Natal , South Africa . It occurs in teetotal , marvelous grassland and opened woodland in transition communities between savanna and vale bushveld .
