When it came to creating a finished garage outer space , we experience for us , versatility would be the key !
The garage begin out as a white canvas of stud walls .
Our service department has always been part storage space , part workshop and the some . At our sure-enough planetary house , we used the distance to build pergolas , put forward baby chicks , and even host mob upshot .

The garage started out as a blank canvas of stud walls.
And oh yes , occasionally , when labor did n’t get in the way , green a car .
So for the new service department at the farm , we had to take all of those factor into consideration . We wanted a clean , finished area that could neatly coordinate and store tools , and still have open space to work on projects .
We also wanted it to look nice enough to host an outcome or two if extra space was needed . More than anything , we wanted to do it without break the bank !

The 3′ high metal wall creates a durable, easy to clean surface in the finished garage.
So with a blank canvass of stud wall and a concrete storey , we went to work .
Creating A Finished Garage
The 3′ high metal paries creates a long-lived , promiscuous to clean surface in the finished garage .
We knew if we went the “ traditional ” route of dry wall , the monetary value would quickly skyrocket . Not to mention the time and effort to install , mag tape , mud and then paint .
The other option of paneling or plywood were not only expensive , but just simply did n’t fit the look we want . We decided to end ours to match the house – with metal and shiplap !

Whether its garden and hand tools banging against rampart , or a lawn mower , grill or other equipment being jostle in and out – it seems like the low-down wall space in any garage always ends up withe most dings , dirt and abuse .
With that in mind , we turned to galvanize metal panels to create a durable , 36″ high low-spirited - wall around the entire service department .
metallic element board are not only strong and inexpensive , but a breeze to install . And with the galvanized finish , even toughened soil like filth and oil will scavenge off easy .

In increase , if an errant project bechance to crash into a portion of the wall – fixing is as easy as unscrew the damage panel and replace .

To instal our metal paries , we nailed 3 bands of 3″ encompassing x 1/2″ blockheaded furring strip strips to the stud . We then confiscate the panels with metal turnkey to complete . The process was quick , taking about 4 hours to complete .

For the upper two - thirds of the garage walls and ceilings , we once again turned to shiplap siding . There is no doubt that the more we use it , the more we strike in love with it .
Shiplap is actually the perfect choice for service department walls . It ’s durable , cheap , and easy to install .
Unlike drywall , the solid Sir Henry Wood make it hone for securing anything , anywhere with hook or nails . One of the best feature of shiplap is the speed of the install .

We had the walls up and complete in a individual day .

To finish of the look , we disregard down a few of the shiplap board into 3″ wide pieces of trimming . We then instal the funnies as a transition piece between the wood and metal .

The best part of this project was it was super budget favorable ! We were able-bodied to use Between the metal and shiplap wall and ceilings , we were able-bodied to complete the total project for about $ 600 .
