Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day. May.
‘ Everything is flower most recklessly ; if it were voices alternatively of color , there would be an unlikely scream into the center of the Nox ’ . Rainer Maria Rilke .
In May , every day brings new delights in the garden , last week ’ s splendid sun and then a second of rain has worked deception .
Apple peak is everywhere and is one of the joyousness of May ; my trees are all very honest-to-goodness . This one has fallen over at some time in its prospicient spirit , but is always full of blossom and has large fruit like a sweet Bramley .

Cydonia oblonga ‘Vranja’
I intend Quince blossom is even pretty than that of the Malus pumila tree . My Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree is not very old , but I am promising that this year I will have plentitude of fragrant quinces .

I have two huge courtly Horse Chestnut trees which I would never have planted , but I do enjoy them at this time of the year with their beautiful ‘ candle ’ . In autumn they search abominable when the they are attacked by Bleeding Canker . How leftover that they come back as full as new each spring .

‘ My real treasures of other May are my other peony . Paeonia smouthiiis one of the oldest recorded hybrid at over 160 years old . Still , it remains quite rarefied . It has finely issue foliage and single red peak which are exquisitely fragrant .
Paeonia smouthii
Paeonia mascula ssp.masculahas pass on similar to those of the more well - known ‘ Molly the Witch’,Paeonia mlokosewitschii , but it has cherry reddened flowers instead of lemon chicken .

Iris ‘Banbury Gem’
Even pretty are their close cousin the goody little Semiaquileagias . This one is the dusky pinkSemiaquilegia ecalcarata . It is light lived but with a bit of portion it will sow around .

I have intercourse geums and there are some reasonably new hybrids . My latest is a double peach seedling from the wonderful nursery , The Beeches , near Saffron Walden . By the way , this is my favorite nursery , it is full of many rare and strange plants . I am planning to go later this calendar month with Julie who write the wondrous web log , Peonies and Posies . I had better set about saving up .

minuscule poppies seed themselves everywhere in bound . This orangePapaver rupifragumcan become a scrap of a nuisance . But it is very pretty .

I can sense your excitement with the act of endearing picture . I feel it too ! I have intercourse everything but was interested in the lovely ‘ incursive ’ Papaver ruprifragum which I have not consciously reckon before . I have just the area for it to encroach upon with an orange and royal theme . I must await out for seeds . Also glad to have the name of the small Iris ‘ Banbury Gem ’ which looks the same as one I have from ‘ the plant table ’ !
So much to be shake about with all these flowers … . genus Epimedium blooming here too and it braved many a very cold nighttime !
It ’s a fabulous prison term of year Chloris and your garden looks as if it is in full party mode . We have two chestnut just outside the garden . Like yours they see fab at the present moment but ours suffer from the same woes that Pauline mentions . I mean that I may possibly have iris ‘ Banbury Gem ’ too . It came to me with the recording label ‘ Pacific Coast Iris ’ and looks most similar to yours . The flowers are momentaneous perfection . Have fun greenhouse visiting with Julie .
