More spring blooms from an Iowa garden

Today we ’re sport more pictures from Kathy Schreurs ’s beautiful garden in Sheldon , Iowa . See the photos from yesterday .

The addition of tall Allium ( cosmetic onions , Zones 3–8 ) has brought a pop of colour to the secure fleeceable - and - white color dodging in this part of the garden .

Kathy articulate , “ The sweet waldmeister ( Galiumodoratum , Zones 4–8 ) tends to be mellow maintenance — stop dead out almost to oblivion at times — but I always supervene upon it because it ’s so lovely with the genus Funka . The brunneras(Brunnera macrophylla , Zones 3–7 ) add a soupcon of soft texture too . ”

“ The big grim genus Hosta , the vivid ‘ Guacamole ’ ( center ) and ‘ Striptease ’ ( right ) were not in full grown yet for the time of year . Adding color in the background is leech ticker and , in the foreground , dwarf iris ( Iris cristata , Zones 4–9 ) . ”

“ I coquet with columbines ( Aquilegiaspecies and cross , Zones 3–8 ) of various colors , but they tend to lose their intercrossed colors within a few twelvemonth as they self - seed and interbreed in the garden . ”

“ My Siberian iris ( Iris siberica , Zones 3–9 ) battle the shade and so are not prolific bloomers , but even a few of these blue beauties are a thing of admiration . ”

“ I also enjoy a blue mass of block - me - nots ( Myosotis sylvatica , Zones 5–9 ) . I embed the first of these the summer my beginner died . ”
