Janet Loughrey has been a full - time garden photographer and writer for 25 years . She know and gardens in Portland , Oregon ( USDA Zone 8b ) . Previously , Janet garden in the Adirondack region of upstate New York where she mature up ( geographical zone 4b/5a ) , and advert college in Arizona before go to Oregon . get different climate has given Janet a greater appreciation of the gardening challenge they represent .

In her own personal garden , Janet tend an eclectic mix of roses , shrubs , perennials and bulbs on a standard city pot . Her most recent heat is grow annual flowers in containers and from source . She also enjoys growing , harvest and eating fresh heirloom love apple , peppers , honey oil and other vegetable crops . Janet ’s garden also serves as an out-of-door studio where she create many of her photos .
