Some unusual garden visitors

Cheryl shared today ’s picture of some unusual garden visitant .

In gathering garden wildlife photos of bees , hummingbirds , butterflies , and skirt , I understand there was also a recurrent large brown presence among the trees and flowers . So these garden photos are a bit dissimilar from the usual exquisite GPOD persuasion , but perhaps they are interesting as a certain form of garden / nature fundamental interaction . Here in the northern Utah mountains , we are privileged to see many unlike wench mintage — also deer , raccoon , rabbits , and ( ick ) field mouse , etc . seldom we see a pine marten , and even a mink once . But the most exciting visitant are the moose . We usually see them four or five fourth dimension a class , led to the garden by a pocket-size brook course in front of our mansion . Generations of cows have brought their lovely baby to snack in our garden . They are far less destructive than cervid and tread unco lightly without crushing plants . They generally only surf on twigs and leaves of young aspen , serviceberry , willows , redtwig cornel , and also our two overgrownapple trees(moose - lop ! ) . Only the niggling calves munch on flowers , and they are welcome to do it any time ! One of my best garden memory board is seeing a baby European elk leaping and cavorting in a sprinkler while Mom trim back up some young aspen nearby .

Mom and calf down in the wilder area along the creek . The redtwig dogwood tree does n’t listen their attention from year to year , which help it bush out with smart flushed new maturation .

The moose enjoy resting , napping , and ruminate under the orchard apple tree trees in the shade during summertime visit . I will fault this one for the lack of weed whacking along the rocks and the crumple spentdelphiniums ! I usually do n’t go out when they are present ; this exposure was taken from our sleeping accommodation windowpane .

This moo-cow chequer out our extremely countryfied “ folly ” with seating area and a small firepit down by the creek .

In this unlike class ’s sojourn , delphiniums(Delphinium elatum , Zones 3–7 ) were still blossom . Moms usually have one baby but sometimes two . A second one was munch some serviceberry to the left wing of this frame . A few redraspberriesshow in the foreground . I ’ve always suppose they should be moose - munched but they never are except for a few leaves in the fall .

Some late summer days I have to refill the birdbath . Also , those bricks did n’t get put in for a grass barrier that day .

Bulls have confabulate only twice , a young one many geezerhood ago and then this large guy in 2018 . I like to reckon he had been here before when he was a little sura and amount back for another summer nap under the apple trees .

A cow visiting in autumn has a shaggy coat wet from pelting . She has a calf lie just past her on the other side of this small hill . They have never pink over a pot ! Gambel oak tree leave cover the ground .

Winter visit are primarily for apple branchlet and frozen apples dug from under the Baron Snow of Leicester . I enjoy see the enceinte gentle creatures easing around the garden any sentence of yr !
