As we strolled about the farm this preceding week to shoot a few photos for our farm and garden mid summer update , I was strike by just how lush and green the intact landscape painting is .
Especially considering we are smack splash in the middle of July !
In Ohio , mid to later July is usually the clip the pasturage starts to brown a bit as things heat up .

But that is for sure not the pillow slip this year . Everywhere you look , there is dark green leaf .
And although this hebdomad work our first heat undulation , there is good deal of wet to keep powering plant .
Here is count around our Old World Garden Farms for July 2019 . And as always , we have admit a pass - through television of the garden update at the end of the article as well .

The Farm & Garden Mid Summer Photo And Video Tour
The garden is in full growth mode !
As you could see from the pic , our zucchini plants have grow to a few feet in both height and diam . And the dome , corn , tomato and peppers are all exploding as well .
We have had plenty of rain to power the crops this twelvemonth . In fact , we have not water the flora in our garden once since planting back in May .

For us , that is one for the record book !
Love , love , love the smell of the Allium sativum hanging and cure in our barn right now !
Our garlic was harvested last week , and the craw was surely one of our largest ever .

We will let it hang in the b a few calendar week more until the papery exterior skins are all ironic , and then we can store it for up to a yr .
We save back a few of our dear bulbs to plant again in late August for next year ’s crop.(See : How To Plant , Store & Cure Garlic )
This is our favourite sentence of the year to enjoy the back porch and pavilion field .

There is something so incredibly beautiful about sit outside skirt by run over hanging field goal , blooming in all their glory .
This basket of impatiens has produce so large , you could barely see the container any more .
You have to love the power ofworm castingsand compost tea !

The Daisies
summer stand for prime - metre at the farm . It is when so many of our favorite perennial come to life sentence !
These daises are in full bloom , and along with the hostas , coneflowers and other perennials blooming , it adds big color to the landscape painting .
It is always so unbelievable to see the many bees and pollinator working all of the blooms .

So here is a sneaker peek at the completed cabin !
We will have a full story with next Sunday ’s farm update , including a short video hitch of both the inside and out .
This photo is taken from inside , looking out at our old recycled b with the garden behind .

The cabin is definitely a office to pose and relax and enjoy the farm .
We installed a small charcoal grey grillroom and patio out of doors , and it has become one of our favourite new spot to enjoy an evening dinner .
The Hostas
The hosta industrial plant are in full bloom as well , and have grown to register size of it this twelvemonth with all of the additional rains .
They now insure about 90 % of the bed space look over the back porch . Their long , spiked efflorescence are always buzzing with activeness from the bees and shuttle .
Speaking of record growth , our popcorn craw this year has explode !

Our Dakota Black crop has now reach about 12′ in height . And the Ladyfinger popcorn stalks are not far behind .
Our two , double - planted row of popcorn allow us grow enough to have popcorn the whole year around .
Of naturally , with all of the lush growth comes a few supernumerary pests as well .

For the most part , our fellow planting of Nasturtiums and Marigolds have kept our pest under control .
But that does n’t intend we do n’t have to be on the scout for monster eater like this love apple hornworm . And they can disguise themselves incredibly well on plants .
Nothing measure walk through the garden day by day to keep these destructive eaters under restraint .

And for our last exposure before the television of the garden update below , a shot of our overgrown front threshold ferns . We constitute ferns in 5 gallon bucketful and then place them into homemade 2 x 4 plantation owner boxes each year .
And this year , they have grown a slight too well . In fact , they have started blocking in the room access !
fern are a groovy plant to fill up in for shadowy country , and can be easily kept and divided from year to year . ( See : How To Overwinter Ferns )
