This is a love apple with severe Early Blight . Notice it has process it ’s way up through the plant . I should have move out the diseased leaf while it was till on the bottom leaves and then sprayed with Serenade . I may not be able to pull through it .

other Blight is a fungal disease get by the fungus Alternaria solaniwhich lives in the grime . When rainfall or water splashes the stain up on the dispirited leaf , the fungal pathogen gets on the plant . It start as some yellow mottling on the lowly leaves which forget unattended , then continue to work its path up the plant branch by branch on the leave as shown on the photo above . It is communicable to the other tomato industrial plant next to it so you should get on this pronto if you see any polarity of it . Some tomato plants are more susceptible to it as well .

This is a tomato with severe Early Blight. Notice it has worked it’s way up through the plant. I should have removed the diseased leaves while it was till on the bottom leaves and then sprayed with Serenade. I may not be able to save it.

With all this coolheaded rainy weather ( we get 1″ on Tuesday night ! ) I have noticed more works starting to get it particularly as the time of year goes on . The older plants ( just like people ) get more susceptible to diseases as they get older . Here is a closeup of what it look like on the leave-taking .

Tomato plant trimmed off of all diseased leaves - notice there are hardly any leaves

If you see any of this going on , you should right away trim off all the branches that show signs of it . Be indisputable to disinfect your press cutting trimmers between plants so as not to spread it . Your plant may not have many leaf   left like this one .

Early Blight

apply a 10 % bleach solution in urine to disinfect trimmers

I use a small container , pour some water in it to cover your trimmers and put some bleach in the water – 10 % is ripe . But I do n’t appraise . I just swarm some in - much less than if you were to put it in your laundry . The samara is to dip the trimmers and your hand or hand in glove into the bleach solution and dry them off before I go to the next works so not to pass the disease on to a healthy plant .

I Start with Serenade and then move to Copper Fungicide if it get worse . Be indisputable to wash your tomatoes really well if you apply the fuzz fungicide . Both are organic but the copper fungicide is stronger .

After you ’ve dress off all the spoilt hooey ,   you need to spray with a dear organic fungicide like Serenade to help slow it down . Also Copper Fungicide bring but be careful using it . They are both organic antimycotic agent . It ’s best if youstart the season spray your tomato plant early BEFORE you ever have sign of Early Blightbecause then it ’s apreventativebut you may be able to check it if it has n’t gotten out of hand , peradventure not depending how bad it is .

Some of my plants ( about 5 have it bad and do n’t have many leave of absence left on because I dress them all off but they are debase with tomato plant and the disease wo n’t hurt the yield so I ’m allow them stay in till I harvest and then I will draw the works . It is interesting to take down I only have one double row of tomatoes where it started with one plant and has now disperse to 7 plant . ( I already pulled out 2 others that shew it real early ) Now I ’m up to 7 plants out of 12 in the bed that have it . The respite of the bed look pretty good . I care I conform to my own advice but was mad busy in the garden this year and was n’t paying attention .

How to deal with Early Blight

1 . After you plant the tomato transplants and make a well and tote up your drip organization ( if you have one ) , put shuck all around the base to keep water from splashing the grime up on the plants . This apply for either hired hand watering or even if you have them on a drip system because of the rainwater . And just because you put straw around your plants does n’t mean it wo n’t get the disease , but it help most plant .

2 . begin sprayingALL YOUR TOMATO PLANTSwith Serenade as a preventative the right way away . It has a bacteria that wo n’t rent the Early Blight bacterium colonize on the leaves thereby thwarting the disease . Plus it does n’t lave off as the just bacteria tie themselves to the leaves . Do spray about every 2 week even if it does n’t rain as a preventative .

3 . Once it begin raining , spray weekly . Be sure to add more wheat if soil part to show .

bleach water

Use a 10 % bleach solution in water to disinfect trimmers

4 . When you first notice the lower leaves yellowing , cut away any branches with the disease present .

5.Disinfect with bleach water between turn out arm off different plant so not to distribute it . you’re able to use bleaching agent water as mentioned above or alcoholic drink on the leaf blade . I use bleach as I have a lot of plant and it ’s cheaper .

6 . Spray immediately after trimming but I would wait to prune if rain is in the forecast for that day . I like to let the atomizer dry and countenance those practiced bacteria sequester to the leafage so I do n’t trim on rainy days .

tomato fungicides

I Start with Serenade and then move to Copper Fungicide if it gets worse. Be sure to wash your tomatoes really well if you use the copper fungicide. Both are organic but the copper fungicide is stronger.

7 . If your plant go on to go downhill , keep trimming and spraying and of courseyou should be spray ALL of your plants not just the infected ones . you’re able to move to Copper Fungicide if you have to but I always take the least toxic constituent methods first . And just because it ’s organic does n’t mean it ca n’t be toxic . Copper is constituent and yet is toxic in great amount but does n’t last long on the plant so just wash your tomato plant before you eat them . you may also draw the plant early on if it only has midget fruit on it or wait if it ’s load up with large yield but be aware it might slip by it on to other plant nearby , especially those that it touches .

This might not help as much this class but keep this info for next year .

PS — Early Blight is not like Late Blight found on the East Coast . former Blight if bewitch early on can be controlled . later Blight is always terminal for a tomato plant works if it gets it . Luckily we do n’t get Late Blight out here in the Southwest . It is presently confined to the North East part of the US .
