The life cycle of a butterfly is sincerely gripping . From the bit they hatch from an testicle , they go through several stages of development . One of these phase is called the larva , which is commonly know as a caterpillar . When I think about caterpillars , I am immediately remind of my puerility days spend exploring the wonders of nature in my backyard .
During this stage , the caterpillar ’s main task is to eat on , and boy , do they eat a lot ! They are ravening eaters , forever munching on leaves and vegetation to fuel their outgrowth . It ’s incredible to witness how quickly they can ingest entire plant , leaving behind only bare stems .

This sloughing of the pelt typically pass about four or five time throughout the caterpillar ’s developing . Each time it moult , the cat gets bigger and continues its insatiable appetency for food .
The process of molting allows the cat to adapt its expanding body . It ’s as if they have outgrow their old skin and need to upgrade to a larger one , just like how we humans outgrow our clothes . Seeing a caterpillar shedding its skin is a truly noteworthy hatful , as it expose the ticklish , new pelt underneath .
During this stage , the caterpillar ’s appearance can vary greatly reckon on the metal money . Some cat have vivacious and striking patterns , while others may blend in with their environment , camouflage themselves for protection .
